| The
Clifford Craig Medical Research Trust has been a leader in medical research
in Tasmania since 1992. The quality of its research is improving the life
of all Tasmanians, and gaining for Launceston a reputation as a centre of
excellence in medical research targeting specific local needs. For reasons
that remain as yet unclear, Northern Tasmanians suffer from unusually high
rates of medical disorders such as skin and stomach cancers, cardiac and
respiratory diseases, diabetes and diseases of old age. Nearly everyone
can expect to be affected by a serious illness at some stage, making the
research work done by the Clifford Craig Medical Research Trust relevant
to us all.
The Rotary Club of North Launceston has been a supporter of the Clifford
Craig Medical Research Trust since 1994. Since that date through donations
either from Club Project Funds or profits during the last three years
from the Rotary Art Exhibition we have donated $18,944 dollars to this
worthwhile organisation.
On the 25th January 2005 the Clifford Craig Medical Research Trust hosted
our Club Dinner Meeting at the Launceston General Hospital and during
that meeting presented President Andrew Whitehead with a framed Fellows
Certificate in recognition of our Club's donations to the Trust.
