Message from our Club President

The Rotary Club of North Launceston is pleased to present Rotary Art for 2005.

This is the 38th year of the exhibition, held in the Max Fry Hall, and since 1997 it has been organised by the North Launceston Rotary as our major annual fund raising project.

One of the aims of the exhibition since it commenced 38 years ago was to provide a forum for emerging and established artists to exhibit their works. This tradition is continuing, with an increased number of works this year.

Since the Rotary Club of North Launceston took over the reins of the exhibition in 1997, our aim has been to continue the good work of the Max Fry Committee as well as generating funds for charitable works in the Community. To date we have been able to donate $32,000 to charities and organisations. With the support of Sponsors and the public we look forward to a significant increase this year.

In September 2003 the Sing Elon International Choir for children between the ages of 10 and 14 years was formed. The Choir has a strength of about thirty and in September 2004 they performed in Hong Kong as their first international tour. Marvellous opportunities are provided for young people that will influence their future. Touring is costly, requiring fund raising and community support, so we decided that a significant donation would be made to the Choir from the exhibition proceeds.

The sponsors and providers that help to make the exhibition a success are shown in the catalogue and are identified throughout the exhibition.

The exhibition could not be held without the Artists, Sponsors, Judges, demonstrating Artists and our Rotarians and friends. To all these people and organisations, thank you for your support.

A special thank you to dedicated members of our Rotary Art Committee who have worked throughout the year to organise this event.

The support of the members of the public who have visited the exhibition and given their support is essential and I thank you for coming.

Charles Smith (O.A.M.)
